PRODUCTION JOB DESCRIPTIONS

SET DESIGNER:

As Set Designer you will be expected to attend design meetings, attend at least one rehearsal before tech, create a set design that works with the director’s vision, lead/help the crew with any additional painting/building and striking the set, and respond to rehearsal reports as needed.

LIGHTING DESIGNER:

As lighting designer you will be expected to attend all tech meetings, attend at least one rehearsal before tech, supervise and help hang lights, program the lighting board, attend cue-to-cue, pick up and return any rented lighting equipment during tech/strike, and respond to rehearsal reports as needed.

SOUND DESIGNER:

As sound designer, you will be expected to attend all tech meetings, attend at least one rehearsal before tech, rent and load in any necessary audio equipment, design and program cues, work with Mac and Q Lab, pick up and return any rented lighting equipment during tech/strike, respond to rehearsal reports as needed.

COSTUME DESIGNER:

Costumer will be responsible for the design, rental, purchase acquisition, or build of all costumes and accessories for the production. Required attendance at at least one rehearsal and one tech rehearsal, and respond to rehearsal reports as needed.

STAGE MANAGER:

Stage Manager is expected to attend production meetings, run rehearsals, have clerical organization, send rehearsal/performance reports, and insure the smooth execution of the performances. The Stage Manager must setup and strike the performance area every rehearsal and performance. Must have experience with Q Lab and running a light board. Able to manage an Assistant Stage Manager and casts from 2-20.

ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGER:

The Assistant Stage Manager the Production Stage Manager with all of their responsibilities. This will include attending production meetings, running rehearsals, clerical organization, and insuring the smooth execution of the performances. The ASM is part of the management team of the production. The ASM may be expected to run rehearsals when the PSM is not present. The ASM will assist in setup and strike each day and will run the backstage.

PROP DESIGNER:

The prop designer is expected to work directly with the director and other designers to design, engineer, build, pull or buy props for the production. They are expected to read the script and create a prop list, then get a preliminary prop list from the stage management team. Other responsibilities include clarifying all props needs early in the production process, completing all props for use is the first technical rehearsal, coordinating with stage management to ensure appropriate rehearsal props are available while show props are built or procured, Attending production meetings, Checking and responding daily to rehearsal reports, Replacing and/or fixing broken or damaged props. After production closes, return in rehearsal and production props to their proper storage locations.

MUSICAL DIRECTOR:

The Musical Director will be responsible for a variety of duties including but not limited to teaching singing parts to casts, accompaniment for performances, hiring musicians, acting as rehearsal pianist, and creating and/or editing music tracks.

WIG DESIGNER:

The wig designer is expected to work directly with the director and other designers to design, build, or pull wigs for the production. They are expected to attend at least one rehearsal and tech rehearsal, maintain the wigs during the production, and respond in a timely fashion to rehearsal reports.

CHOREOGRAPHER:

Musical theater training and experience a must. Dance training a must. Ability to read music a plus. Great attitude, enthusiasm, and management skills must the second nature. Hands-on, team-teaching environment. Must be available for all rehearsals and tech rehearsals.
